About JoeMiguel
When JoeMiguel and his wife, Alejandra, decided to purchase The Angel’s Salon (former name) in 2005 as a Dominican Doobie Shop, it was not anticipated that that’s where “El Rey de Los Rizos” or “The Curl King” would be born. JoeMiguel’s coined nickname was earned by not only owning the salon, but for creating more spaces and advocating for natural, textured hair in the industry for several years into his profession. JoeMiguel became the Creator, Artist and Educator in Precision Curl Cutting and Coloring. He currently impacts the curly hair community and hair care industry with over 15 years of experience, obtaining certifications from Pivot Point, Vidal Sassoon Academy, DevaCurl and Goldwell Education. Being a lifelong student of hair is a core value for the Owner, because technique and precision are fundamentals to his teachings through the JoeMiguel Academy Courses.
JoeMiguel has created a home-like culture for his clients at both JoeMiguel Salon locations in Union and Elizabeth, NJ, where the JM team alike ensures each head of curls are treated with the same passion and integrity that JoeMiguel offers. He educates the Certified Curl Artists on the tenacity, technique, and thoroughness each client deserves when sitting in their respective chair.
The finished result and transformation within the client’s definition of beauty will speak for itself through the passion and precision provided for each service. The team continues to actively learn from the work of many reputable hair professionals, seminars and educational training tools to stay up to date with the latest products and techniques. JoeMiguel leads by example and has made it his mission to continue “Redefining the ‘Standard of Beauty.’”
